As the year is winding down, I am sure you are all gearing up for summer plans. The weather is definitely wanting summer to be here too! :-) Just a reminder, we do not have air conditioning in our school, so this 91 degree weather will be a little hard to concentrate in, but we will manage. Please be sure your child continues to dress for the weather - they are welcome to bring a water bottle to leave at school for the week too. Thank you!

This week we will be doing a lot of review as I begin to assess the students for their final report card.

I will also begin introducing subtraction in math so they are exposed to it and understand the beginning of subtraction for first grade.

***Just a Reminder....there will be no school next Monday, May 31st in honor of Memorial Day***

Math: we will begin learning addition and subtraction!!

Language Arts: We are starting our last theme called, "On the Go!" We will be talking about various types of transportation and writing about traveling and ways to get around the city and the world.

Book Bags: Last Friday, your child brought home a "Book Bag" or bag of books! Parents, please note that there is a letter for you to read inside the "Book Bag" that explains what these books are to be used for. A couple of key pieces of information for you to be aware of:
1. The "Book Bags" should stay in the child's backpack so they can use them at home and at school.
2. Each book within the bag should be read 5 times daily, this will help build your child's fluency.
3. Please record the date, the book, how long you read and parent signature on the "Book Log" which is the golden sheet of paper in your child's "Book Bag"

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you! Happy Reading!
