      • PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure your child has warm gear (hat, mittens, snow pants, boots and warm jacket) to wear outside. We do go outside for recess every day.

      • From the Shirley Hills website, click on FAMILY ACCESS on the left side of the screen.
      • At the next screen, enter your Skyward Login information.  (If you don’t have this information, please call Mrs. Clipper at 952-491-8409).
      • If this is the first time you have tried to log into Family Access, the next screen that appears may ask you to change your password to something you can easily remember.    Simply create a new password and click Save.
      • When you get to your Family Access account, click on Teacher Conferences on the left side of the screen.
      • If you have more than one child in the district, there will be a box for each student.
      • To the far right of the student’s name, click on All Conferences
      • On the next screen, find the HOMEROOM class.  This may be the only class listed or it may be the last one in a list of five.
      • On the line with the Homeroom class, click Select a Time.
      • The next screen shows all conference times.  Any available conference time slot will have the word SELECT to the far right.
      • Click on Select for a time that works for your family.
      • A small screen will pop up showing the teachers name, room number and the time you have selected.  Click Save, and you’re done.

Carnival - Our Carnival is this coming Friday and is a tremendous community building event as well as a superb fundraiser. Please plan to join us this Friday, February 3rd from 5:00-9:00pm. FYI from our PTA - Carnival packets went home a week and a half ago Wednesday and there are many open slots for the Carnival Worker Signup Genius and several items available to donate for our silent auction - use this link for that Signup Genius-Carnival silent auction Signup Genius. Also that we are accepting new or gently used items for the garage sale.

Pennies for Patients continues this week (thank so, so much for all of your generosity last week!) The kids were so proud of the money they brought in! In one week our class, alone has already raised over 150$!!! I can't believe it! Way to go K-2!!

Monday is Martin Luther King Day! This year K-2 will be making a "Dream Quilt". The students will learn about Martin Luther King and that he had a dream for our country to work together. The students will draw a picture of what they dream of being when they grow up and then we will put all the pieces together to make a whole quilt. The purpose of this lesson is to have the students learn that they are part of a whole. Helping each other achieve their dream benefits everyone! Last week we also did an activity about the Crayon Box, feel free to ask your child, "How do all the colors of the crayon box work together?"

In Reading we will work on:

Journals: I have been assessing their writing for the pass few days.  I am looking for spacing, starting their sentence with a capital letter and making sure that their sentence makes sense.
