The first few weeks of school.....

Last week.... Lindsay was our "Star of the Week" and her special guests were her parents! They came to read Pinkalicous and Purplicious on Friday!




































In the first few weeks of school we have also been talking a lot about what our responsibilities are in our classroom ..... along with what we know we can expect to be Mrs. Koepp's responsibilities and our parents'.

Letters of the Week: Mm & Ss

This is our first FULL week of kindergarten and I know the students will love it. We will start off our Monday morning with our first Character Assembly of the year with Mrs. Swanson and I think she has a pretty exciting message in store for us. (Hint: this year's Character Theme is "Learn Like a Rock Star/Teach Like a Rock Star"). We will also begin starting to learn and focus on the letters Mm and Ss in handwriting and reading the sight word I with our first theme "All About Me." We will also learn some new vocabulary words: ability, talent, confident, complained, encourage, and reverse.
In Math we will be reviewing concepts in the next two weeks such as shapes, directional words (i.e: right, left, above, below) and sorting objects by color, size and kind.
I'm looking forward to a great week!

A great first day!!!

We are having a great start to our new kindergarten year!

The students have quickly made some new friends, made it through their first lunch line as a kindergartener (with not even ONE SPILL!!! :-) ) and enjoyed exploring throughout the room. We also read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn
which made us feel a little more at-ease saying good-bye to mom and dad for the school day.

We're looking forward to yet another successful day tomorrow before a weekend of rest and relaxation.

Welcome Back to School!

The humidity has gone, the fair has come and then it is time for us to be back to school! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at open house tonight. If you can't make it, don't worry, I will be handing out all of the important information that you won't want to miss at our first conference with your kindergarten student next week. I hope you all had a wonderful summer, I'm looking forward to meeting my new students in my class - we are going to have a great year!!
