Schedule for the Week of January 5-9

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!! Here is what our first week back will bring! ......

Reading: Lesson 13
  • Phonemic Awareness: review final and middle sounds in words
  • Letters: Bb, Kk
  • High-Frequency Word: for, me
  • Continue to use graphic organizers
  • Work on formulating questions after reading a story
  • Robust Vocabulary: fading, perhaps, prefer, warn, whirl, property
  • Questions: work on writing questions together and independently 
  • Read What Will the Weather Be Like Today? By Paul Rogers and When A Storm Comes Up by Allan Fowler
  • Centers on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Reading Homework
Guided Readers (I will be reading these with students in groups of 4-5 throughout the week) 
  • Lesson 13 Red (focuses on recognizing words that begin with the letter B and K)
  • Lesson 13 Blue (includes short sentences that focus on our new sight words, me and for)
  • Lesson 13 Green (includes more complex sentences with lots of new words that we haven't learned in Kindergarten)

Math: Unit 3
  • Unit 3: 
    • 3.8: Use a Balance Scale to Graph Weight
      • Objectives: make teen numbers using 5-groups; explore weight using a pan balance; graph to compare two weights
      • Vocabulary: balance, weight, heavy, heavier, light, lighter, up, down, predict, weigh

        • Objectives: show partners of numbers 2 through 6; develop spatial concepts; visualize squares as sides of cubes
