Math: We will be finishing Chp. 6, which concentrates on numbers 0-30. If you are looking for extra activities to do at home for extra practice with learning these numbers, try playing Go Fish with cards numbered 0-30 or play Memory with two sets of cards 0-30. Try putting the number cards in order from 0-30 or see who can put them in order the fastest, you or your child?! Have fun!

We are starting a new theme this week in Language Arts called "Whatever the Weather." The students will be learning about different types of weather and how weather changes on a day to day basis. We also started working on ten frames in math last week. Ten frames are how we teach the students to show the value of numbers 10-30 using groups of frames with 10 spaces in each frame.

Star of the Week: Alaina!!

This week will be a review week of sight words and vocabulary words. We will also be focusing on learning to create words with word families such as: -it .... sit, bit, pit, etc. and -ip..... sip, lip, dip, etc.

Parents, we are also starting to run out of extra snacks for those who forget to bring a snack from home some days.... if you are at the store and are able to pick up a box of your child's favorite healthy snack, that would be great! Thanks!

Hello! Happy New Year and welcome back after a nice long break! Thank you, thank you to all of you for the gifts you gave to our classroom and to myself for the holidays.... you were all very generous - thank you!
I hope you all enjoyed your time-off and are now ready for the New Year! I am excited to be back and see everyone and I hope you are too.

This week we will be jumping right back into the swing of things and even have a new Character Assembly Monday afternoon called "Caring Hearts" to kick-off the new year of 2011. For our "Caring Hearts" assembly, we will be learning how we can work together as a school to raise money to help children whom are born with heart defects.
