Schedule for the Week of Dec. 9-13

Hello!

It is hard to believe we only have 8 days of school before winter break!! Where has this school year gone?!?! I hope you are all staying warm, while it has been bitter cold outside! We have been having many "brain breaks" (exercise breaks) this week due to our days of indoor recess! :-)

Here is a glimpse at what the rest of the week holds for us......

Reading: Lesson 11 

  • Phonological Awareness: final sounds in words
  • Letter of the week: Gg and Ff
  • High-Frequency Word: here, this
  • Working on drawing conclusions and rereading when something is confusing
  • Robust Vocabulary: anxious, huddle, moans, productive, idle, scrumptious
  • Making posters
  • Working on developing and organizing our ideas in writing
  • Reading Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm  by Joy Cowley and The Little Red Hen and the Ear of Wheat by Mary Finch
  • Centers (Tuesday and Wednesday)
Reading Homework (Due back Friday, December 13)
We always send the lesson's homework out after we have taught it for a week, so you will get lesson 11 after next week and so on.  Since we taught lesson 10 this week, that's what is coming home. :)

Lesson 11 Blue: focuses on basic sentences using new sight words, here and this
Lesson 11 Green: focuses on more advanced sentences using here and this
Math: Unit 3

      • Objectives: find partners of numbers 2 through 6; explore reversibility of addends and doubles
      • Vocabulary: switch the partners, doubles, 120 poster
    • 3.4: Addition and Subtraction Stories: Park Scene
      • Objectives: establish links between math and the real world; tell addition and subtraction stories; solve story problems; count groups of shapes and write the total
      • Vocabulary: plus sign, minus sign, equals sign
    • 3.5: More Groups of 10
      • Objectives: use pennies and Dime Strips to make teen numbers; draw numbers 6 through 10 as 5-groups; show teen numbers as a group of ten and extra ones
      • Vocabulary: 10-group, teen number
