Language Arts- Unit 6: Fix-Up Monitoring/Summarize Information (Week 2)

- PLEASE work on this with your child 3 times a week for 5-10 minutes. This can make a HUGE difference with increasing sight word fluency
- Don't forget to utilize Raz Kids and Dream Box at home as well! (5-10 minutes a day is good)

Book Reviews: Writing a Book Review (Characters)
- Use uppercase and lowercase letters correctly
- Use appropriate end punctuation
- Put spaces between words

Daily 5 Centers:
Read to Self: Students read books from their personalized book boxes, students can also choose from our classroom leveled library
iPad: Students use the Raz Kids app to enjoy 1-2 stories. Afterwards, they can look at physical books, or work on Scratch Jr (coding app).
Word Work: students choose from a variety of activities that focus on sight words, letter work, CVC words, and rhyming.
Work on Writing: Students will write their own mini book. They can write on their own or collaborate with their partner
Listen To Reading: Students listen to the story, Animals in their Habitats and then record a video book review. They will state whether they liked the story or not, give a reason why, and then decide if they would recommend the story.
Creation Center: Students are given a variety of materials and are asked to simply create. They can build, do an art project, etc..
Math: Unit 4 (Partners, Problem Drawings, and Tens)
- 4.17: Introduction to the -1 Routine
- Objectives: create story problems (addition and subtraction), solve addition equations; order numbers 1 through 20
- Vocabulary: addition sign, subtraction sign, add
- 4.18: 2- and 3-Dimensional Shapes: Triangles
- Objectives: find and explore triangles in three-dimensional shapes and through creative movement; show teen numbers as ten and extra ones; order numbers 1 through 25

- Objectives: use vertical graphs to compare quantities; solve addition equations and explore addition strategies

- Objectives: find and write equations for partners of 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10; show teen numbers as a ten and extra ones

**Physical copies of math homework will no longer come home. Math worksheets will be on this blog for those who wish to use them. This will save lots of paper, and hopefully alleviate any stress regarding homework responsibilities at such a young age. Looking at the math homework is still a great opportunity for parents to see what students are working on in class.
