Reading: Lesson 14

  • Phonemic Awareness: review beginning sounds in words
  • Word Building: -ig and -in words
  • High-Frequency Words: where, do
  • Recognize important details in stories
  • Robust Vocabulary: arrives, creeps, nestle, slumbering, delight, blustery
  • Writing: work on writing interview questions together and independently
  • Read Winter Lullaby By Barbara Seuling and Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
Reading Homework

Guided Readers (I will be reading these with students in groups of 4-5 throughout the week) 
  • Lesson 14 Red (focuses on basic -it, -ig, and -in words--no sentences)
  • Lesson 14 Blue (includes short sentences that focus on our new sight words, where and do)
  • Lesson 14 Green (includes more complex sentences)
Math: Unit 3 (Unit Test on January 29)
  • Unit 3: 
    • 3.20: More Graph Drawings: Match and Compare
      • Objectives: describe relative position using ordinal numbers; establish links between math and the real world; tell and solve addition and subtraction stories; use the words more and fewer to compare quantities
      • Vocabulary: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, more, fewer
    • 3.21: More Teen Numbers with Classroom Objects
      • Objectives: group the ten inside teen numbers; match partners and totals for teen numbers; use the words more and fewer to compare quantities
      • Vocabulary: more, less, fewer
    • 3.22: More Attribute Card Activities
      • Objectives: sort by shape, size, and color; generate shape patterns; use equal and not equal to signs
      • Vocabulary: sort, equal to sign, is not equal to sign
